Deerah works with refugee and underprivileged women in Jordan to create handmade fashion and craft pieces inspired by traditional Tatreez embroidery. The enterprise began with a dream to revive cultural craftsmanship, and has evolved into an enterprise providing women with access to economic opportunity alongside sustaining heritage traditions. Deerah has a production workshop where it employs refugee artisans who hand-embroider pieces, and pays sustainable monthly salaries alonside transportation allowances. Through Deerah, many women have stepped outside their homes to work for the first time, gaining confidence, community and independence.
