Long before modern frameworks for social impact, communities across the Arab region were coming together to care for one another, share resources and respond collectively to their hardest challenges.
Rooted in our land, culture and traditions, Al-Awneh (العونة) is the practice of coming together, unasked and unprompted, to harvest a field, rebuild a home or lift a burden. At the Arab Impact Summit, we opened with a film featuring four stories from across the region, each reflecting how this spirit of collective responsibility continues to shape the work being built in our communities today.
The film set the stage for two days of honest and courageous discussions about where impact in the Arab world has come from, what it is becoming, and how we can build systems that honour and carry forward our own traditions of solidarity and collective care. On behalf of Alfanar Venture Philanthropy and BuildPalestine – we invite you to discover the stories that opened the Summit.
